Before you go out, be aware of what sort of scene you will be headed into. If you are thinking of a new place, a quick Internet search or a text to a friend might reveal what kind of music will be playing and what sort of dress code you face. On Oahu, we know what party clothes are. No bouncer is going to let someone in ratty jeans and slippahs into a nice nightclub. Choose clothes that look good, but are comfortable enough to dance in. Women, make sure your high heels are sturdy.

through some use of etiquette, but on Oahu they are not as strict."

Once you arrive at the Night Club, don't dive right out onto the dance floor even though everyone knows you are a dancer - acknowledge your friends. Enjoy the atmosphere, allow some time to check out the scene, get a drink, listen to the music and let the beat get you into the mood. When you feel it, let the music in and your body will let you know when you are ready to move.

We have been at the point of diminishing returns for over a month, but we are just starting to pull ahead slowly even if it is mostly SOS. I am certain now that any blog that gets less than ten daily hits is a loser. And when I first started out and put a counter on mine I was elated to average ten hits per day. That was 300 hits per month. Of course, I did not know much in the beginning and neither did anyone else. Adding more blogs to eleven diluted the readership and here we are at this point in time, down to five blogs.The one outside blog I carry in my stats, is leading with over 30 average hits per day. For sure, the outside Feedback is already making the difference. Where are you?

The traditional dance MC in our social dancing on Oahu has been the Disk Jockey with an assist from the officials in charge. He doesn't partake much in the politics of the dance groups. And he has always programmed the music for the majority of the dancers. He does listen to the dancers and he can see the dance floor. He has tried to ensure that a more challenging or advanced dance is alternated with a simple dance for all. That the lively dances would be alternated with the gentler forms. Most of our Disk Jockeys on Oahu know what the are doing - they know their music and they know their crowd.

We are getting some good One Timers. They not wish for any further commitment. They want to have their say and forget about it. One good Two Center from any group willing to share with our fellow readers regularly would send the hits up through the roof. If they "like" it they may decide to be a Guest Blogger, their decision. They then can get in whenever they wish, write, post pictures, delete or publish without saying "boo" to anyone. They can have their own blog within the blog.

Week Ending Saturday, Aug 31st, 2019

It is not uncommon to see a progressive and spot social dancers sharing the same floor on the larger social dance floors. In this case, the progressive dancers dance along the edge of the dance floor while the spot dancers occupy the center. For instance, Country Two Step dancers can dance on the edge while Swing dancers can dance in the center of the floor. However, in order to dance a progressive or traveling dance in a small space, it is necessary for progressive dancing to be customary in that dance place. If spot dancers dominate the space and dance along the edge, a progressive dancer should not push their way around the dance floor. In these situations, it is best for everyone to dance a spot dance.

In the social sciences, there is also a recognition of the clique group opinion such as we have in dancing and it refers to the aggregation of opinions verbally communicated from closely knit people. The biggest has been the well known Creative Researchers And Producers at the Palladium. Generally conceded that they have contributed some to the decrease in dancing interest for the last couple decades. Many have recognized it as "politics." and the reason for the increase in so many new dance clubs since the opening of the Palladium.

In these situations, researchers are often interested in questions related to social choice, untruths, conformity, and group polarization. One of our blogs will remain my personal blog to alert my relatives and friends on the mainland and perhaps a few on Oahu too. The rest of the blogs will be available to acquire Information and Photo Contributors to share with our fellow dancers on Oahu. They may hopefully become full fledged Guest Bloggers and help me decide the appropriate time to resign, they can take over and the blogs can become independent. I don't have much time left.

So for now the total recommended dancers in each photo for maximum efficiency will be my old standby of 4 to 6 people. Gradually we will change the presentation away from the peas in a pod photos. We have had some goodies already and I am certain that we have some good creative photo takers and they are going to give us some dillies. Eventually when we get more Guest Bloggers that can be converted to Administrators, then we can set up other attractions for each one of the other blogs when they are ready. Can be a nice game for our cultural dance crowd and fun is what we are all about.

Week Ending Saturday, Aug 24th, 2019

Most social dancers are great romantics, but we can also be realists. Life is complicated and may last a while, I will be 94 on September 12th. There are people that we have respected and admired and looked up to. They have not been perfect (except you, of course,) and many may have done some wrong. Perhaps we can learned to not be so quick to judge others. We're flawed, all of us, we're human beings and sometimes we will make mistakes and other people are going to judge. That's their problem, but I think that the more we live our lives, the more we learn not to judge people for their mistakes. Most of us are trying our best.

Well we are finally at a good starting point for blogging on Oahu. I have learned a lot in this century. I asked knowledgeable people on the Waianae Coast, at the Turtle Bay, at Makapuu Point and at Kalealoa and could not find anyone who was an expert in blogging. How about that? I kept increasing my blogs and went all the way to eleven blogs. But they "all" agreed that eleven dance blogs was too much, OK, but I had to find out for myself. Fifteen years ago all the dance Web sites had counters so that you could see see how many people tuned into you.

I use a spreadsheet program and I did the stats daily. None of them ever got more than single digit average per day hits. I used that as my measuring stick. I had couple of mine with less than nine average hits per day and I deleted them. Now had nine blogs and bear in mind that I had available the data of how many hits were legit. I gradually found out that more than half of my recorded hits were from search engines and I don't really know how I got rid of so many scam spam robot hits.

I deleted two more blogs and brought them down to seven blogs. I worked to get the blogs better known on the internet and find ways of getting the extraneous hits out. I got rid of a lot of bad hits, and even though I was getting more legit hits I deleted two more blogs and brought them down to the five we have now. The secret to getting more hits is evident and first and foremost is those dancers willing to share their dance information with our fellow reader/dancers on our blogs.

Every ten days, I update my consensus of several polls on the mainland. The candidates for the Democratic Nomination for President. I am now down to the top five. 1 Joe Biden 2 Bernie Sanders 3 Elizabeth Warren 4 Kamala Harris 5 Pete Buttigieg. One these will be the nominee.

We all still have our rights, but if anyone is not in the top ten by now, for sure they will not get the nomination, no matter how much Trump spends. Good Democrat? Drop out and get behind your best bet to beat Pubic Enemy number one, Trump. No talk stink about your competition, no matter how much money Trump offers you to stay in and goof up the works.

I have been getting hints in writing some nice guidelines for our bloggers. However. at the moment we do not really have bloggers and we just need feedback. Newsletters, (remember?) newspapers, radio, tv and magazine advertisements, Good? Of course and they are still doing some good, However? I may have to look into this when we get more bloggers. This is social dancing and most experienced dancers do things their way. It is only lately on Oahu, it is being recognized as a most accepted way. The rigid styles will remain rigid in their syllabi and that is their style. Accepted yes, of course, but we must recognized them as being a different style of dance and they surely have the right to make their own rules.

Eventually we may have going dance blogs. I don't really recognize any of my blogs that cannot get out of single digit average per day hits. I delete them. When the Web sites in Hawaii realized that they were staying in single digit average per day hits, they dropped the Counters. If I can flesh out the blogs out with dance news and photos from the reader/dancers, we may have a dance blog. Then all I have to worry about is getting the Guest Authors to eventually take over the entire blog enchilada. By that time they will be known all over this island. Why? Because the blogs may not be in their infancy but they are not yet fully formed, and the dancers will be getting better acquainted.

Are there any experts out there blogging with us that know everything? I know one thing, I must make our blogs "social media" and that means Guest Authors or at least other people regularly contributing opinion. It must not be only me. I found this secret gladly for I will not live forever so I must plan on the orderly fashion for the takeovers. And the idea is to spread it as wide as possible over this island and not let any one group screw up the dancing. The results will be dancing of dancers, by the dancers and for the dancers. What more could I ask for?

For social dancers, dancing should be music to their ears. They have to like what they are committed to learn. Before choosing a dance because they think it looks cool, they choose rhythms that they really enjoy the music. They may be listening to a lot of these songs during the next years, so it should be pleasant. Take classes, go out to practice at clubs and dance festivals. Having someone to guide them helps to make things much easier since this person already went through the same path they are planning to. After they feel comfortable, they can go out to dance and also to big dance socials where you can see and dance with different people.
